Market Report 12/29/2008



The Maine Shrimp Fishery has been extended! These delectable fresh shrimp range between 70-90 shrimp per pound and are available on a pre-order basis only!


Swordfish and Tuna supplys remain steady, enjoy the slight dip in pricing this week!


For all those with a hankering for Halibut, we now have previously frozen whole Halibut and Fletch available! The frozen Halibut is cutting out beautifully and is a great option for holiday parties!


Due to inclement weather in the North Atlantic, there will be limited availability on groundfish and pricing will be high in the upcoming week.


Having trouble finding the perfect holiday gift? Lobster tails and shrimp are the perfect solution! Your friends and family are sure to enjoy these sweet, delightful treats and no one has to know how affordable they are!


Unfortunately, fresh Walleye season has come to an end until next April... Check out our fantastic frozen Walleye, out of Lake Erie waters!

Market Report 12/15/2008



Pumpkin Swordfish is in the house! These rare pumpkin colored beauties are thought to get their color from naturally occurring carotenes in the shellfish they consume. Treat your customers to these one of a kind markers for a meal they aren't likely to forget!


Check out our hog snapper this week! Coming out of Southern Atlantic waters, these gnarly toothed, snow white fleshed gems are so sweet and delicious they are often referred to as the "crabmeat of the snapper family"!

Ground fish will be in steady supply this week and thankfully, we will see a break in flat fish pricing.


Whole (Refreshed) Halibut and Fletch will be available mid-week! They are great winter menu substitutions for fresh Pacific Halibut, until the season re-opens in March!

Mahi Mahi landings continue to be strong out of the South Atlantic! Priced right, this tasty treat adds a little taste of the tropics during the cold winter months!

Market Report 12/8/2008



Groundfish, in particular Lemon Sole, are very scarce this week causing the price to rise considerably.


We will see a rise in tuna pricing this week (especially sushi grade) as there will be limited supply.


We are beginning to see a dramatic decrease in the price of frozen lobster tails, just in time to take advantage for your holiday parties!

Market Report 12/1/2008


USDA Panel Approves First Rules For Labeling Farmed Fish 'Organic'! For the first time, a federal advisory board has approved criteria that clear the way for farmed fish to be labeled "organic," a move that pleased aquaculture producers!


North Atlantic ground fish are in limited supply this week causing unfavorable prices.


Wild Striped Bass (aka Rockfish) supplies out of Maryland continue to be plentiful resulting in lowered prices!

Market Report 11/21/2008


Wild Striped Bass is here and its larger than life! Straight out of the North Atlantic, these monsters are weighing in around 20-25 pounds yielding delicious firm flaky fillets!

Chilean salmon supply will be tight due to a Chilean Customs strike. Now is a great time to try out our Irish Organic Salmon or our Loch Duart Salmon! We will also be bringing in an abundant supply of Canadian salmon fillets!

Market Report 11/17/2008



Pollock (aka Blue Cod) out of the Gulf of Maine continues to be plentiful! This fresh catch of the week is a flavorful, affordable menu item!



North Atlantic exports out of Icelandic waters are currently very strong... The weakening Euro, continues to make the pricing on imported goods more and more attractive!



In an ever increasing "Green" conscious society, Loch Duart Salmon Fishery has been forced to expand its production in order to keep up with the demand for this delicious, sustainably raised salmon!



Overproduction of Frozen Thai Shrimp has lead to a cutback in the industry in attempts to stabilize the price. Contessa pricing should therefore be stable throughout the holidays!



Halibut Season OFFICIALLY ENDED NOVEMBER 15TH!

Frozen whole, portions, and fletch will be available from here on out!

Halibut season is coming to a close as quotas will be shortly reached... get it fresh while you can! When it is no longer available keep in mind we have a fantastic frozen halibut portion program!

Market Report 11/6/08


Wild Striped Bass season is upon us! Beginning next week and lasting through January we will see Stripers starting out around 2-4 pounds!

Nantucket Bay Scallop season is finally here! Available on a pre-order basis ONLY, these sweet delectable morsels are averaging 90-110 pieces per pound!

Stone crab claw season is upon us! We will be bringing in product on a pre order basis only. Sizes available include: Medium (6-8 per pound), Large (4-5 per pound), and Jumbo (2-3 per pound).

Weather in the North Atlantic is optimal for fishing at this time, resulting in strong Cod landings for this week! Demand is down and supply is up making the price very attractive!
